Connect your store
Connect Slack
HI Engine sets up a Slack channel for your store. New ideas, finished builds and test results arrive there, and you can ask the agent questions in-thread.
Slack is where most merchants end up working with HI Engine day to day. The web app holds the full board; Slack carries the decisions.
You do not set this up. HI Engine creates the channel, adds the bot, and binds the channel to your store during onboarding. Your part is to tell your contact who should be in it.
How it is set up
HI Engine creates the channel
One channel maps to one store. If you run several stores, you get one channel each, and each is bound separately.
Depending on your workspace, this arrives either as a Slack Connect channel shared with you, or as an app installed in your own workspace. Your contact tells you which.
You add your team
Invite the people who should see ideas and approve builds. Anyone in the channel can use the bot and press the buttons on a review card.
The channel is bound to your store
Your contact binds the channel. Until then, the bot ignores everything said in it.
That is deliberate. Nothing in an inbound Slack message decides which store's data the bot may read — the binding does.
What arrives in the channel
| Message | When |
|---|---|
| New CRO idea | As soon as an idea lands on your board |
| Changes ready for review | When a build clears internal review |
| Test result | When an A/B test reaches a decision |
Read Review cards in Slack for what you can do with a review message.
Asking questions
Mention the bot with a question about your store:
@HI engine why did mobile conversion drop last week? The bot reacts with 👀 straight away, then answers in a thread once it has pulled the data. Inside that thread you do not need to mention it again.
See Ask the agent.
Changing the setup
Ask your HI Engine contact for any of these:
| Ask for | Result |
|---|---|
| Mute the push | Proactive messages stop. Questions still work |
| A second channel | Useful when one team reviews builds and another watches results |
| Unbind the channel | The bot goes silent everywhere in it |
What the bot can and cannot do
| It can | It cannot |
|---|---|
| Answer questions about your store, grounded in your data | Read any store other than the one bound to the channel |
| Create a new idea from a conversation | Change a task's status by chat message |
| Approve, comment on or reject a build, through the buttons on a review card | Publish a theme to your storefront |
