Ask the agent

Mention the bot with a question about your store and get an answer grounded in your own data, in-thread.

Once your channel is bound to your store, you can ask HI Engine anything about it.

@HI engine why did mobile conversion drop last week?

The bot adds a 👀 reaction straight away, so you know the question landed. The answer arrives in a thread a few seconds later.

Inside a thread, just talk

After the first mention, you do not need to mention the bot again. Reply in the thread and it keeps answering.

The bot reads the live thread each turn. That means it sees everything in there — review cards, build notifications, and messages from your HI Engine team — not only its own previous answers.

It waits for you to finish

If you send three messages in a row, you get one coherent answer, not three contradictory ones. The bot waits about 20 seconds of quiet before it starts, and it never runs two answers for the same thread at once.

So type your whole thought. It will not interrupt.

What it is good at

AskExample
What changed"What moved in the last two weeks?"
Why something changed"Why is desktop revenue down?"
A specific segment"How does mobile paid traffic convert compared to organic?"
A page or product"How is the hero collection page performing?"
Its own reasoning"Why did you rank that idea so high?"

Creating an idea from a conversation

When a conversation lands on something worth doing, say so:

save that as an idea

The bot pulls the supporting data, computes the impact estimate and TRICE score, shows you the draft, and waits for you to confirm. Once you do, the idea appears on your Ideas board like any other.

What it will not do

  • It will not read another store. The channel binding decides the scope, and nothing in a message can widen it.
  • It will not change a task's status by chat message. Use the buttons on a review card.
  • It will not publish anything to your storefront.

When the answer looks wrong

Say so in the thread. Ask it to show the numbers and the date range it used.

Two things cause most disagreements:

  1. A different date range. HI Engine reports on complete days and excludes today.
  2. A second domain. Traffic split across two hostnames counts differently in GA4 than in Shopify.

If the bot never answers

Check, in order:

  1. The bot is in the channel. Run /invite @HI engine.
  2. The channel is bound to your store. Ask your HI Engine contact.
  3. You mentioned the bot, or you are replying inside a thread it already answered in.

An unbound channel is silently ignored by design. It does not post an error.
