Rolling back
Every change HI Engine makes is reversible, at every stage. This page says how, at each stage.
Nothing HI Engine does is one-way. Find the stage you are at.
Before the build starts
Ask HI Engine to cancel the task, in Slack or in chat. The idea returns to the board unchanged.
While the build is in review
The change lives only in a draft theme. Your storefront is untouched.
- Reject the task. It goes back to the backlog and the implementation attempt is rolled back.
- The idea survives. Only this build is discarded.
You can also just leave it. An unapproved draft theme changes nothing.
After you published the theme
Your previous theme is still in your theme list. Shopify keeps it.
Open your themes
Shopify admin → Online Store → Themes.
Find your previous theme
It is in the theme library, below the live one. Its name is the one that was live before you published the new draft.
Publish it
Click Actions → Publish. Your storefront returns to the previous state immediately.
Then tell HI Engine. It marks the change rolled back and stops attributing results to it.
Shopify limits a store to 20 themes. If your theme library is full, HI Engine cannot create a new draft theme, and you cannot keep an old one for rollback. Delete themes you no longer need before you run out.
During an A/B test
Stop the test. Traffic returns to your current experience at once. See A/B tests.
The change log
Every build records what changed, which files it touched, and when. Open the task to read it.
If you need to reverse a change by hand, that log is what your developer needs.
A/B tests
Split your traffic between the current experience and the new one, and let your customers decide. Run it with HI Engine, or hand it to Intelligems, Shoplift or Shopify Rollouts.
Ask the agent
Mention the bot with a question about your store and get an answer grounded in your own data, in-thread.
